Sweater weather, pumpkin-spice everything, using football games as an excuse to eat multiple cream-cheese-based dips in one day—these are just a few of the reasons I love fall. Another reason to love fall? We get a new batch of interns. Meet our latest: Carley Pierce and Leah Tobak.
Mississippi born and raised, Carley graduated from University of Southern Mississippi in August with a degree in journalism with an emphasis in public relations. Though she’s been in Nashville less than a month, Carley’s effortlessly cool style and ultra-friendly demeanor could fool any Nashvillian into thinking she’s a native. When asked her hobbies, her responses included, “hiking (beginner style), thrift shopping, exploring new places and being around pets.” My kinda girl.
Proud Alabama fan and alumnus Leah (Roll Tide, as they say) grew up right down the road in Franklin. After receiving her degree in public relations in May, Leah returned home to get some real-world PR experience. Ever the office fashionista, Leah also runs a fashion and lifestyle blog—The Look By Leah—works as a freelance model and loves to hit the gym in her spare time. Let me get some of that gym hustle, gf.
Carley and Leah have been with us nearly two weeks now and have already proven that they’re great additions to our team. Lucky for us, we get to hang on to these PR killers until December.
Let’s get to know Carley and Leah a little better.
What are you most looking forward to while living in Nashville?:
CP: I’m excited to start a new chapter of my life. New friends, new experiences, new music, but most importantly, I’m making a conscious effort to be less stressed.
LT: I’m really enjoying discovering all of the less touristy places I never went to when I was younger. There’s always so much going on!
What’s your dream vacation destination? Who would you take with you?
CP: I want to hike the C2C trail across England. That is some of the most beautiful coastline I’ve ever seen. At this point in my life, I can’t think of anyone I’d rather hike that with more than my Labradoodle, KC.
LT: I would love to go to LA; my whole family is from there but I’ve never been. I’d definitely take them, my boyfriend and my best friends.
What TV character are you most like & why?:
CP: I’d say Jess from New Girl. Avec bangs, I get told I look like her more frequently than you would think. Personality wise, I would say I’m a little quirky and awkward at times, but I’m generally pretty likeable, and I always try my best to stay positive.
LT: I feel that everyone is a character from the TV show Friends, and I am such a Monica. She’s a little bit neurotic and OCD, but still a fun food-enthusiast and definitely, authentically herself. Also, I would easily fall for a Chandler.
What’s your favorite food?
CP: I’m somewhat of a mac-and-cheese connoisseur, but honestly I’ll eat just about anything with cheese on it.
LT: To be honest, I just really like food in general. Maybe hibachi? Or chocolate brownies.
If you could have a celebrity best friend, who would it be?
CP: Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. They just always look so happy to be alive.
LT: Taylor Swift. No contest.
What are you most looking forward to learning from this internship at the Bradford Group?
CP: I’ve had other internships in the agency setting, but this is by far the most friendly and fun group of people I’ve ever had the opportunity to work with. I’m excited to get to know all of you, but also to learn from you all as I start my journey as a public relations professional.
LT: I’m so eager to get hands-on in the many different areas of the PR industry that the Bradford Group offers. I feel like this internship allows us to do a lot of real work. I learn so much from it and become a better PR practitioner every day.
