Part of the fun of working for a great agency is being encouraged to think. Here are some of the things we’re thinking about.

Our Top 10 Favorite Moments as PR Interns with the Bradford Group

July 17, 2015 Gina Gallup

Written by exiting interns Brianna Basik and Rachel Young.

Starting our internship this summer, we never thought we would have trouble choosing our favorite moments. Well, we were wrong. Over the past two months of interning at the Bradford Group we have done everything from writing press releases to putting together gift baskets. There is never a dull moment here and it’s safe to say this public relations internship has exceeded both of our expectations.

It was difficult, but we’ve narrowed down our top 10 favorite moments that will make leaving the Bradford Group so hard. Without further ado, let the countdown begin.

10. Our first day

It might be your first day of interning if you arrive 30 minutes early and go to the wrong floor. First days of internships are rarely comfortable, except when you’re interning at the Bradford Group. Not only were we welcomed with smiles and coffee, we left with an eagerness to come back the next day.

9. Learning Cision

So you don’t know what Cision is? Thats ok, we didn’t either. In short, Cision is a little piece of heaven in the form of a search engine used to gather information about publications, reporters, editors or anything else in the communications world. After learning the art of Cision, our lives will never be the same.

8. Rooftop lunches

Lunch tastes good, but it tastes even better when you can eat while looking over Nashville’s beautiful city.

7. Twitter chats/social media

Social media is vital for every company, even a PR agency. One of our favorite tasks as interns was getting to “chat” with other companies on Twitter and throw around new ideas.

6. 4th of July party

The Bradford Group doesn’t mess around when it comes to celebrating our country’s national holiday. Streamers were hung, music was played and cupcakes were definitely eaten.

5. Pitching

As is true for any profession, it’s one thing to learn about something in class and something completely different to actually do it. Nothing is better than the excitement of sending out an original pitch and getting a response.

4. D & D

Every Wednesday for lunch the groupies gather in the conference room to “Digest and Digress” and catch up on things going on. We enjoyed this time to learn from the groupies in a relaxed setting and who doesn’t love eating?

3. Brainstorming with the Boss

Not many interns can say they sat in with their CEO for a brainstorming session. We can.

2. Groupie Fridays

On Fridays, yes every Friday, at 4 p.m. Groupies head to the kitchen and celebrate the hard work accomplished that week. Not only is it a time for updates on the company, but a time to relax with all your favorite people.

1. Feeling like a Groupie

It can be nerve-wracking jumping head first into an internship without knowing anyone. We never felt like we had asked a dumb question. We never felt like we were “just the interns.” Instead we felt welcomed, included and like we too were Groupies.
