The summer months are looking bright at the Bradford Group. We’re so excited to announce our full-time summer interns Brianna Basik and Rachel Young!
They’re as sweet as can be, eager to learn and quick to take on anything the Groupies may need assistance with. They’re both about to be college seniors and are excited to dive right into the public relations world.
Brianna comes to us from Birmingham, Alabama, and she’s a public relations major at Auburn University. (War Eagle!) She’s a YoungLife leader and a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. She loves to read, go on walks and listen to music (preferably live). She also prefers an unhealthy amount of coffee in the morning. We’d say she’s fitting in quite nicely.
Rachel is from Murfreesboro, and she studies public relations at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. She’s a member of Delta Gamma Rho, the PR Club and next year, she’ll be the assistant editor of the yearbook. She enjoys running, hanging with her precious pup Buddy and traveling. She recently studied abroad in Southeast Asia, New Zealand and Australia for three months. She’s a go-getter!
Let’s get to know this duo a little bit better, shall we?
What are you most looking forward to living in Nashville for the summer?
Brianna Basik: I want to explore the city since I am not from around the area. I want Nashville to feel like a second home to me, and I hope to know all the cool spots only locals know. Also, stalking celebrities is a priority.
Rachel Young: Since I am from this area, I have grown up visiting Nashville often. So, to be able to spend more time in the city I love thrills me. There are also so many good places to eat in Nashville, and I am looking forward to trying those as well. Food is definitely my love language.
What’s your favorite summer treat?
BB: A waffle cone full of mint chocolate chip ice cream! Mmmmm.
RY: Laying by the pool eating mint chocolate chip ice cream.
Editor’s note: Brianna and Rachel took this quiz separately. How cute is that?
Take a peek at your Spotify account. What’s your #1 most-played song?
BB: “Swept Away” by The Avett Brothers
RY: It changes all the time, but right now it’s Ed Sheeran’s “Afire Love.”
What three words describe your personality best?
BB: Witty, loud and friendly
RY: Positive, energetic and loves to laugh
What do you love most (or are learning to love the most) about public relations?
BB: There is always something new going on, and there is always something important to get done. Nothing slows down, and I love that. Also, I love how personal it is. People are always the priority in PR.
RY: I love how everything is fast-paced and constantly changing. I get bored doing the same thing over and over, so working on several different kinds of projects is awesome.
BB: Spotify, Pinterest and Snapchat
RY: Facebook, Instagram and Pandora
If you could transport yourself anywhere instantly, where would you go, and why?
BB: Ireland, no hesitation. Have you heard an Irish accent?! I have always wanted to go there. I want to see the green hills and sit at a pub. From all the things I have heard about the culture in Ireland, I would love it.
RY: I would go to Sydney, Australia. I studied abroad there, and it will forever have my heart. I would live there if I could!
BB: “I want to make God belly laugh, glad that he gave life to someone who loves the gift.” – Shauna Niquist
RY: “Enjoy every single moment–the good, the bad, the beautiful, the ugly, the inspiring, the not-so-glamorous moments. Thank God through it all.” – Author unknown
What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done? Would you do it again?
BB: Dying my hair brown. No. Never in a million years would I do it again.
RY: On my study abroad trip in New Zealand, I went bungee jumping! It was the scariest thing I’ve ever done in my life and was so insane! But I would do it again in a heartbeat.
What are you most looking forward to your senior year of college?
BB: Having one last semester (I’m graduating early) to be a kid. I am going to go to every away football game and just enjoy being in college for one more semester.
RY: I can’t wait to be assistant editor of my school’s yearbook and just to spend my last year with the amazing friends I have made through school!
BB: Pulling pranks on people is one of my favorite things ever. Anything from replacing mayonnaise with toothpaste to giving my friends mice as a gift.
RY: Definitely anything chocolate.
Lastly, and most importantly, if you could be a character in Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” music video, who would you be, and why?
BB: Whoever Taylor Swift’s character is. If there is ever a chance to be Taylor, I choose that every time.
RY: I took the Buzzfeed quiz “Which Bad Blood music video supervillain should you be?” and I got Welvin the Great a.k.a. Kendrick Lamar. I’m not really sure how I got that answer, but I guess that’s who I would be!
