Part of the fun of working for a great agency is being encouraged to think. Here are some of the things we’re thinking about.

Meet Sarah: PR Intern Extraordinaire

June 4, 2018 Bradford Group Administrator

Hailing from Atlanta, Ga., Sarah Halfacre is a rising senior at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, majoring in media and communications with a concentration in advertising and public relations. She joined our team just 6 days ago, and she’s already blowing us out of the water with her PR expertise!

So far, we’ve learned that she’s great at what she does and that she adores quokkas. Don’t know what those are? Keep reading to find out!

What sparked your interest in PR? I started writing for the school newspaper during my senior year of high school, and that sparked my interest in media and communications in general. Then, after meeting with my adviser at freshman orientation, I learned more about the PR world. It’s something that is never going to go away. It’s always changing, different and exciting. It’s fast-paced, and that’s something that I love. After describing the many aspects of PR/advertising, I knew I had learned the field I wanted to enter.

Why the Bradford Group? I did a lot of research when I was applying for summer internships. I think it’s important that I’m actually learning, not just running for coffee and making copies. After reading about the Bradford Group’s size, client base, community/culture and a lot of blog posts, I knew it was a company that I wanted to join. I’m only a few days into my internship and I’ve already learned so much.

PR is something that is never going to go away. It’s always changing, different and exciting. It’s fast-paced, and that’s something that I love.

What are you most looking forward to learning during your time with us? I’m looking forward to everything, but if I had to choose one topic, it would be pitching the media. It’s extremely important in our industry and something that we do a lot here. Outside of classes, I don’t have much experience with it. So hopefully, I’ll get to push my comfort zone a little bit with it this summer.

Now, for a few fun facts…

Favorite thing about Nashville? EVERYTHING. I haven’t been able to adventure too much, but the culture, food, music and views are amazing so far. Luckily, people from work have recommended a few places to check out while I’m here!

Favorite dessert? Cheesecake. Any kind of cheesecake. I love cheesecake.

Have any hidden talents? I can tie a bow tie in 10 seconds.

Favorite guilty pleasure song? “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor. It’s perfect for any day. Anytime I hear it, I can’t help but sing along!

A happy quokka

If you woke up tomorrow as an animal, what would you choose to be and why? Easy. A quokka. They are adorable and always smiling, and I think that would be a pretty cool thing.

If you had to create a slogan for your life, what would it be? Probably “Turning the ordinary into extraordinary” or “Love always.” I’m a firm believer in being happy, loving other people, loving what I do and finding the good in pretty much everything. There’s a lot of negativity in this world, and I think the least I can do is share a little bit of good and love in everything I do. Also, who wouldn’t prefer an extraordinary life over an ordinary life?

Anything else we should know about you? I’m the oldest of four siblings and love movies and traveling. So far this year, I’ve crossed three new cities off of my bucket list (Jackson, New York and Charlotte) and still have a trip planned to Chicago this month.

Welcome, Sarah! We’re so glad you’re here!
