Our Spring interns, Kayla Guglielmo and Conner Bruce, have joined the team and jumped right into the fun and fast-paced life of our agency. But before they get too involved, we wanted to take a moment to get to know them. Here’s a little more about them:
What city are you originally from?
Kayla: I spent most of my childhood in a small town called Dover, Tenn., so I guess I’m technically from there, but I always have to mention Saratoga Springs, N.Y.! I was born there and have always felt a stronger connection to it than I have to Dover.
Conner: I am originally from a small town called La Follette, just north of Knoxville on the Tennessee/Kentucky line.
What college do you attend, and what is your major/minor?
K: I go to Belmont, and I’m studying public relations with a minor in corporate communication.
C: I attend Middle Tennessee State University, and I’m graduating in May (Yaaaay!) My major is mass communication with a focus in public relations accompanied with a double minor in political science and business administration.
What sparked your interest in PR?
K: Before I declared PR as my major, I had never heard of it before. I went to freshman orientation as an education major, but for some reason I didn’t get up when they called for education majors to register. So, while I was panicking, the head of the PR department came in and asked for all of the PR majors. I got up and went
with her, having no idea what it even was. I declared it as my major, then I took an “Intro to PR” class my first semester and loved how there is a strong emphasis on creating and maintaining relationships. I’ve also always enjoyed writing and social media, so it’s something that I actually enjoy doing: It makes me happy!
C: I focus on the smallest details, and I love learning new things about anything in the world. I’m just really curious like that. PR gives me the opportunity to learn new things about, let’s say, an industry trend, and turn that information into a conversation piece. By constantly learning, you never run out of creative ideas! Creative ideas make for successful, happy clients!
What drew you to the Bradford Group?
K: I think what initially drew me to the Bradford Group was the 3 core values – Smart, Active and Results. It’s evident that the company follows them closely and lives by them every day, both inside and outside of work!
C: The Bradford Group interested me initially based on its approach to PR, as well as its company culture!
What are you most looking forward to learning during your time with us?
K: Pitching media placements! In a lot of my classes, we’ve talked about pitching and how to pitch, but I feel like it’s something that you have to actually do in order to get a handle on it. I’d love to be able to work on pitching and learn more about it!
C: I’m most excited to gain more experience in the social media side of PR, as well as learn more about inbound marketing and how, as a PR professional, I may be able to utilize it later on in life.
What’s your favorite thing about Nashville?
K: I love that there’s something here for everyone, and there’s always something good to eat or fun to do!
C: Uh… Is that even a question?? Broadway, pedal taverns, #SundayFunday and Champagne brunches at Tavern!

K: Urban Grub or Barcelona Wine Bar! Urban Grub has these gluten-free tapioca rolls that I could eat all day, every day.
C: It depends. Dinner is definitely bartaco, Breakfast is pancake pantry and lunch is any kind of street food I can find =)
Have any unique hobbies?
K: I’ve recently gotten into macrame and making wall hangings! I love anything crafty and DIY that I can hang up in my apartment or give to my friends.
C: I love everything aviation, so I tend to find myself reading a lot of different articles or books on it. If there’s something that has to do with aviation, I’m all in!
What’s your guilty pleasure TV show or movie?
K: The Office is my go-to TV show, and if I’m not watching that, I’m watching a cheesy romantic comedy!
C: Keeping Up With The Kardashians and Love Island (But we can just keep that between us)
When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
K: Up until I went to college, I wanted to be a teacher like my mom, and I would make my friends play school with me. I think I enjoyed it more than they did.
C: A pilot. I wanted to be a pilot so badly, and I followed that dream to MTSU. Unfortunately, I found out I was too color blind to pursue my dream into commercial aviation.
Favorite animal and why?
K: Dogs! I grew up always having a dog, so I think that’s part of it. I just love how they all have their own personalities!
C: This is funny because we were just talking about this. Obviously, I love dogs, they’re the most loyal, selfless animal. We really don’t deserve them. Specifically, I love Frenchies! I’ve always wanted one!
