With Employee Appreciation Day today, we wanted to show our new interns some love too. They’ve been here with us at the Bradford Group for a few weeks and we think it’s time you got to know them!
Originally from Philadelphia, Missouri, Amber Krigbaum is in her senior year at Belmont University where she is majoring in communication studies with a minor in public relations. Erin Beck comes to us from Martinsburg, West Virginia. She studied strategic communications with an emphasis in public relations at West Virginia University. And Mary Eckersley graduated from her hometown university, the University of Memphis, where she studied journalism with a concentration in public relations.
Now it’s time to learn a little bit more about them.
What’s the best thing (so far) about Nashville?
Amber Krigbaum: People are polite when driving. They don’t use their horns and they stop to let you in your driveway.
Erin Beck: The food and how nice everyone is.
Mary Eckersley: The novelty of a change of scenery and pace from home. It’s refreshing.
Best Nashville restaurant and why?
AK: Proper Bagel because I could eat a breakfast sandwich for every meal of every day. And they have nutella peanut butter cream cheese.
EB: It’s hard to choose just one but probably Rolf & Daughters. I’ve only been there once but it was so good.
ME: Hattie B’s because fried chicken – enough said.
What three words best describe your personality?
AK: Driven, outgoing, blunt
EB: Witty, driven, thoughtful
ME: Loud, ambitious, bubbly
What are your favorite things to do outside of work?
AK: I like to eat, eat and eat again. Also, I enjoy watching Full House, playing sports and enjoying the outdoors when it is above 60 degrees.
EB: Hang out with my dog and binge watch reality television.
ME: The three S’s – sleep, shop, and socialize.
No cats or dogs, what non-traditional pet do you wish you could own?
AK: fennec fox
EB: an otter
ME: panda
Favorite movie?
AK: Sweet Home Alabama
EB: Zoolander or Rent, depending on what kind of mood I’m in.
ME: Steel Magnolias
Favorite book?
AK: Just Listen by Sarah Dessen
EB: That’s a toss up between Bossy Pants by Tina Fey or Yes Please by Amy Poehler
ME: The Harry Potter series
What’s the best Pop-Tart Flavor?
AK: Smores
EB: I didn’t have a Pop-Tart until I was like 13 but I remember liking any of the chocolate flavors
ME: Cinnamon with icing
What’s one crazy, outlandish thing you really want to do?
AK: Be a spy like James Bond.
EB: Open a brewery with my parents and sisters and call it “Four Daughters Brewery.”
ME: I want to live abroad, particularly in London.
Best place you’ve ever visited?
AK: Paris, France
EB: Puerto Rico
ME: Istanbul, Turkey
One unusual fact about yourself
AK: I used to raise goats. I named one Diablo and cried when he died.
EB: I stuck a pretzel in my ear when I was three and almost busted my eardrum.
ME: I don’t know how to ride a bike.
What attracted you to public relations?
AK: I like building relationships with people, and PR seeks to build mutually beneficial relationships, so it felt like the right career choice.
EB: You get to do something different every day.
ME: I’m very personable and a good writer and it just seemed right.
What are you most looking forward to learning from this internship at the Bradford Group?
AK: I really enjoy getting to know my co-workers, who they are and how they have come to do what they do.
EB: I’m excited to experience what it’s like working in an agency.
ME: How to be taken seriously as a PR professional.
