Do you write a blog? It is finely focused on a particular topic? Does it have a reasonable amount of traffic? Do you like to make money?
If you answered “yes” to all of the above, you should consider being an affiliate marketing publisher by adding links to your blog that lead to an e-commerce website. If a reader of your blog clicks on one of these links and purchases something from the advertiser’s online store, you get a commission. These commissions generally range from 5% to 15%.
So, if links on your blog lead to the sale of $1,000 worth of merchandize in a month – which entirely reasonable – you’ll make enough in commissions to take you and your spouse out to dinner at a pretty good ($50 tab) to really good ($150 tab) restaurant. Not bad for a hobby, which is what most blogs are.
Advertisers using affiliate marketing range from household names like Amazon, Target, ebay, Shutterfly, Adidas, Gymboree, Reebok and Bonobos, to up-and-coming companies like Grasshopper, Little Passports, Smug Mug, Cricut and Booster.
A national leader in affiliate marketing is our newest client, Acceleration Partners, a Boston-based company that was recently named the third fastest growing company in
that city by the Boston Business Journal – with a three-year growth rate of 1,438%.
That’s right: 1,438%.
With growth like that, it’s no accident that Robert Glazer, the founder and managing director of Acceleration Partners, is a recognized thought leader in affiliate marketing. For example, yesterday he spoke at Affiliate Summit East, the sold-out affiliate marketing conference in New York City. This spring and summer, he also spoke at eMetrics Summit in San Francisco, Performance Marketing Insights in Berlin and Affiliate Management Days in London, and this fall he will speak at DMA2014: The Global Event for Data-Driven Marketers in San Diego.

Now, Robert represents advertisers that use affiliate marketing – like Target and Adidas – not publishers. If you want to turn your blog into a commission-generating money machine, he would recommend that you hook up with an affiliate marketing network like ShareASale, Linkshare or CJ Affiliate.
